Premier Heart Rhythm Care in the Southeast
Florida Electrophysiology Associates (FEA) is recognized as America’s largest privately held group of heart rhythm specialists and the largest electrophysiologist-only practice in Florida and the Southeast. Since 1997 we have focused exclusively on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, with particular expertise in atrial fibrillation ablation.
Why Patients Choose FEA for AFib Ablation
- Highest catheter ablation volume in the Southeastern United States
- Largest atrial fibrillation ablation experience in Florida for more than 15 years
- First practice in Florida to perform ablation of atrial fibrillation
- All physicians are U.S. fellowship-trained in cardiac electrophysiology and triple board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology
- State-of-the-art technologies including force-sensing radiofrequency ablation, cryoablation, and pulsed field ablation (PFA)
- Physicians involved in original clinical studies on pulsed field ablation and routinely use the technology across affiliated facilities
- Among the lowest lengths of hospital stay compared with peer facilities, associated with fewer complications
- High percentage of patients referred by prior patients seeking second opinions
Our mission is to provide compassionate, ethical, and high-quality care to patients with cardiac arrhythmias — always putting safety first while delivering efficient, effective treatment. With decades of combined experience, we treat every patient the way we would want our own family treated.
Our Physician Team
Every physician in the practice is board-certified or board-eligible in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and fully trained in complex ablation techniques and device implantation.

Trained at Emory University under Dr. Jonathan Langberg, a pioneer of catheter ablation. Has performed more than 5,000 catheter ablations and implanted more than 1,500 defibrillators. Board-certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.
Dr. Faren R. Angella, MD
Completed undergraduate studies, medical school, internal medicine residency, cardiology fellowship, and cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Recipient of Phi Beta Kappa, best resident in internal medicine, and outstanding cardiology fellow awards. Has published numerous scientific articles in heart rhythm management.
Dr. Vladimir Rankovic, MD
Cardiologist and electrophysiologist affiliated with Bethesda Memorial Hospital and Delray Medical Center. Received his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 23 years.
Dr. Marcelo A. Jimenez, MD, FACC, FHRS
Completed Internal Medicine and Cardiology training at Lenox Hill Hospital and Electrophysiology fellowship at Loyola University. Expertise in atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, device implantation, and complex ablations using low-fluoroscopy techniques. Program Director for the Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship at JFK Medical Center and Affiliate Assistant Professor at Florida Atlantic University College of Medicine. Castle Connolly Top Doctor.
Dr. Matthew Kolek, MD
Completed electrophysiology training at Vanderbilt University. Skilled in complex ablations, AF ablation, Watchman devices, MICRA leadless pacemakers, and laser lead extractions. Recipient of the Dean’s Award for Best Medical Student, member of the AOA Medical Honor Society, and author of 19 research articles. Accepting new patients in Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, Lantana, Boynton Beach, and Broward County.
Dr. Jason M. Appelbaum, MD
Completed internal medicine training at Emory University and cardiology and electrophysiology fellowships at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Manages heart rhythm disorders with medical therapy, catheter ablation, and device implantation. Performs complex ablations and Micra implantation. Numerous presentations at international conferences; Top Reviewer for JACC: Case Reports.
Dr. Alejandro Jimenez Restrepo, MD, FHRS, FRACP
